"What is your name? Fun fact about yourself? What did you learn in your personal devotion/quiet time today?" We opened the fellowship with a self-reflection exercise wrapped in an icebreaker, as we (re)introduced ourselves to one another, with a fair share of "I haven't read my bible today" going around. New faces, old faces, all eager to fellowship with one another and God in our midst, as we prepared to knockout innocent bowling pins staring at us and awaiting their demise. Outside of our two lanes off to the side, the bowling alley is active, the music is booming, the food is smelling, and multiple lanes are bustling. We said a prayer and got to our stations.

Not everyone arrived on time, many trickled in over time, but there was a story emerging regardless. What unfolded was a fun, loving, and joyfully banterous competition — a simple but meaningful moment of fellowship among children of God. There was bowling, food, laughter, conversation, and even people going around asking whether others had read their Bibles that day. And somehow, that was enough. We didn’t need a lot to experience God and to truly experience one another, even in the middle of the chaos of the bowling alley.
