May 30, 2026 — 3:00 PM (not really—lots of african time stroll-ins lol).

WE OUTSIDE! This was the first Decimal Chapter to happen outdoors, and it was splendid.

“What is your name? What did you learn in your personal devotion/quiet time today?”

We opened the fellowship with a self-reflection exercise wrapped in an icebreaker, as we (re)introduced ourselves to one another — with a fair share of “I haven’t read my Bible today” going around. New faces, old faces, all eager to fellowship with one another and with God in our midst, as we prepared to endure the hot sun staring us down and fill our grumbling bellies.

“Can we go into the sun? It’s getting cold.”

This was followed by a collective sigh of relief and agreement from everyone else, as we shivered in the cold shade of the pavilion and someone finally had the guts to stop the conversation and become the spokesperson for everyone’s internal freezing complaints.

We were supposed to step out into the sun to continue the conversation, but our stomachs fought hard for their time to shine, and we inadvertently transitioned into eating together.

Ironically, not long after we settled into the sun, it shifted away again — so shivering 2.0 returned lol.

After eating, we played soccer, and half of the people playing somehow ended up on the team that won. Others played badminton, some laid in the sun, and others walked around, taking in the environment and atmosphere.

Then we ate again. Did I mention our stomachs were really fighting that day?

Not everyone arrived on time, and many trickled in over the course of the day — partly because the place was a little hard to find — but there was a story emerging regardless.

What unfolded was a fun, loving, and joyfully banterous day at the picnic: a simple but meaningful moment of fellowship among children of God. There was food, laughter, conversation, games, and even conversations with people who didn't come to the park for DECIMAL.

And somehow, that was enough. We didn’t need a lot to experience God and to truly experience one another, even in the middle of the chaos of an outdoor picnic.
